About North Attleboro, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
North Attleborough, or commonly North Attleboro, was originally a part of the Attleborough Territory. In 1669 John Woodcock and his family built a house in North Attleborough. The house also had to serve as a garrison for protection against the Indians. George Washington used the Woodcock Garrison House as sleeping quarters on his march to Boston to drive out General Thomas Gage’s troops.
In 1794, Englishmen from Birmingham brought in British machinery and designed and patented American improvements to the machinery for button making. It was said that by 1834 North Attleborough produced more buttons than any other location in the U.S.
During the 1800’s there was tremendous growth in the jewelry industry. The American Civil War furthered the expansion of the industry because of the U.S. Army orders for badges and medals. At various times the world’s largest class ring manufacturer, Jostens, and the Balfour Company, maker of championship rings, chose North Attleboro as home. Today, the town is a thriving center for business and commerce.
North Attleborough has several rivers, streams, ponds and lakes including Ten Mile River, Seven Mile River, Greenwood Lake, and Falls Pond. The largest park in town is World War I Memorial Park. The North Attleborough Arboretum is adjacent to the park.
The town runs its own school system from The Early Learning Center for preschoolers to North Attleborough High School. Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin and Bristol County Agricultural High School in Dighton are also available to North Attleborough students free of charge.
