About Mansfield, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The town of Mansfield is located 28 miles south of Boston. It was incorporated in 1775, and named after William Murray, First Earl of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. Three notable settlers of the town were Nicholas White, Thomas Skinner and Ephraim Leonard. Nicholas White was the first church deacon, the first town treasurer, a selectman for eleven years, and a representative to the General Court. Thomas Skinner was the first schoolmaster. At the time school was held in private homes, one of which was that of Nicholas White. The third notable settler, Ephraim Leonard, was the capitalist. He erected his iron works on the Canoe River in 1734. He was also involved in town affairs, was appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, and was the wealthiest man in the area.
Other points of historic interest are Cobblers Corner and the Fisher-Richardson House, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
Mansfield is also well known for the Xfinity Center. It is one of the most popular concert venues in New England. Honey Dew Donuts, a chain of donut shops in New England, was conceived in Mansfield.
For outdoor activities residents and visitors both can enjoy Memorial Park, Plymouth Street Recreation Area, and Great Woods, Maple Park, York, and Sweet Conservation Areas.
Mansfield has its own school department that consists of five schools. There are three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. In 2013 Mansfield High School’s football team won the Division II state title.
