About East Bridgewater, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The town of East Bridgewater was originally part of “Olde Bridgewater”. In 1823, however, the town separated from Bridgewater and was officially incorporated. Situated on the northern banks of the Taunton River, its early economy was based on agriculture, but industrial development followed. The Keith brothers established an iron-slitting mill, and the first triphammer was established in town in 1740. During the American Revolution the town provided cannons and muskets to the Colonial Army. Other industry included boot and shoe manufacturing and textile mills.
Major population expansion followed the World War II. Today East Bridgewater is heavily residential. The town is governed by an open town meeting form of government and is headed by a town administrator and a board of selectmen. The East Bridgewater Public Library located in an historic building in the center of town and is part of the Southeastern Area Internet Library Services network. The town also operates two parks also near the center of town.
East Bridgewater operates its own school system, which includes Central School, Gordon W. Mitchell Middle School and East Bridgewater Jr./Sr. High School.
