About Avon, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Avon is a prestigious community about twenty miles south of Boston. Although the town has the smallest land area and population in the area, it has great accessibility to health care and cultural, educational and recreational resources.
First settled in 1700, the town was known as East Stoughton. However, many residents of the town were not pleased with the way their section of Stoughton was being treated. Since East Stoughton did not have enough area to become a separate town, the townspeople acquired a piece of land from Holbrook to meet the land requirements. In 1888 the town was incorporated as Avon after the River Avon in England, and the seal features a bust of the bard William Shakespeare who was a resident of Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
With good highway access and an encouraging attitude toward economic growth, Avon has developed into a major employment center in the South Shore area. The Avon Industrial Park has 127 firms who employ over 3,600 people. The town also has a favorable tax base.
The education system in the town consists of the Avon Middle- High School, the Butler Elementary/Middle School, and the private Avon Childrens Center.
